Recent Hiatus

28 Apr

As life often does, it interfered again. However, part of this was due to taking an excellent course last year about current modeling practices and software – things have changed since my early days of learning Maya and 3D Max! This was time well spent and it should allow me to make faster changes. That being said, I am currently waiting on Avastar’s updates, which are necessary for the new bone changes in SL’s rigs. While it’s annoying to have to go backward a bit (reskinning and weighting the avatar) you will all find it worth it because you will have much more control over personalizing the shape.

You are so right. This has all taken far longer than I would have possibly imagined. So many changes, including moves, job changes, household disruption, illnesses in the family, etc. have made time fly by – and not in a good way for my projects. Every time I have to stop working on this for a few months, I have to relearn where I left off – and catch up to new changes in SL. It’s my hope to cram this through this winter before I have to stop again. Thanks so much for your patience.

I am working on it as we speak! Fingers crossed that I can whip it out fast and don’t hit any major snags. Currently I am re-skinning, experimenting with the extra bones I can use. It should lead to more fluid animations and expressions if all goes well. I will be building in a wide range of sizes. I know it’s weird how folks are so determined to build out of scale in SL – the results of building things huge is that your land ends up seeming smaller! Who ever wanted that? People always seem to work against their own best interests. Thanks for the compliment and checking in with me!
